What leaves your machine
Audio and screen frames go out to be answered. Nothing is kept as a recording.
To answer a question, MiPrep has to send it somewhere. Being specific about what that means:
| What | Leaves your machine | Kept afterwards |
|---|---|---|
| Microphone + system audio | Yes, as a live stream while a session runs | No recording is stored |
| A frame of the watched window | Yes, only when you have picked a window and only when it changes | No |
| Your resume and notes | Yes, when you upload them | Yes — that is the point; encrypted at rest |
| The transcript and the answers | Yes | Kept with your account so a session can be reviewed |
Audio flows only while a session is running. When the session stops, the stream stops — this is why the app ends an idle session on its own rather than holding a microphone open indefinitely.
Camera
The camera is off by default and never opens during a session.
There is one optional setting that uses it — Settings › Camera › Auto-adjust text size, which samples the webcam to judge how far you are sitting from the screen and scales the text so it reads the same. It is off unless you turn it on, and even then it is hard-blocked while a session is running: distance does not change enough mid-interview to be worth a lit camera indicator.
With the setting off, nothing in MiPrep opens the camera and the indicator will not light because of this app.
Where your material lives
Uploaded material is stored against your account and encrypted at rest. You can delete it from the web app, and deleting it removes it from what is retrieved.
