Two modes, and you pick one at the moment it matters

Call mode — they dial, you talk
A recruiter rings your MiPrep number. It rings your actual phone a second later, so you answer the way you always do. The question lands, the answer appears on your screen, and nothing about the conversation changes for them.

Call mode — or you ring them
Type their number in the app instead. Your own phone rings first, you pick up, and MiPrep connects you — with your line as the number they see. Dialling from the keypad would leave MiPrep out of the call entirely; placing it here is what keeps the answers coming.

Mic mode — the phone hears the room
In person, or on speakerphone, or on a call you took on another device. Put the phone down, screen up, and it works from its own microphone with no number involved.

You read a short passage once, so it learns your voice. After that it answers the interviewer and ignores you, instead of trying to answer your own sentences back at you.

How the phone works

What it does that a laptop can't

A number that works both ways

Put it on the resume, or give it to one recruiter. Calls to it ring your real phone, and a short whisper tells you who is calling before you say hello. Calls you place go out on it too, so the number they see — and the one they call back — is the same line, never your personal phone. This is what call mode runs on; mic mode needs no number at all.

Your voice, filtered out

Mic mode compares every word against a print of your own voice and drops the ones that are yours. That is what makes an in-person round possible at all: without it, the assistant spends the interview answering you.

Grounded in the same resume

The role you set up on the desktop is the role it answers as on the phone. You do not maintain two profiles, and you do not re-upload anything.

One balance

A phone round spends the hours on your plan, exactly like a Zoom round. There is no second wallet, no packs to buy, and no way to be charged twice for the same hour because you switched devices.

Interview-only, enforced

A judge reads what the call is actually about. If it turns into something that is not an interview, it warns, then stops answering, then hangs up. This is a product limit, not a setting you can turn off.

A live session shows up on any device you are signed in on. Take the call on the phone and read the answers on the laptop next to you if that is easier.

Questions about the phone

Do I need to buy anything extra to use my phone?

For mic mode, no — it is included in every plan, free tier included, and runs in the phone's browser with nothing to install and no number involved. Call mode is the one that needs the $29.99/mo MiPrep number: a call has to arrive somewhere, and that somewhere is a real number rented for you.

Does a phone interview use my plan's hours?

Yes, and that is the point — one account, one balance. An hour spent on a phone round is the same hour as an hour on Zoom. You are never asked to buy minutes twice because the interview happened on a different device.

Can I call a recruiter back?

Yes. Type their number in the app and MiPrep rings your phone first; answer it, and it connects you to them. They see your MiPrep line, not your personal number, so the number they call back is the one that already rings with answers on your screen. It has to be placed from the app — a call dialled straight from the phone's own keypad never touches MiPrep, so there is nothing for it to listen to.

Does a call I place use my hours the same way?

Yes. Inbound or outbound, a phone round draws down the one balance on your plan, the same as a Zoom round. The $29.99/mo line rents the number; the minutes come from the plan you already have.

Can the recruiter hear MiPrep?

No. On a call, MiPrep listens to the line and writes to your screen; it never speaks. What the recruiter hears is your voice on a normal phone call. If you would rather disclose it, there is a setting that announces the assistant at the start of the call — off by default, yours to turn on.

How does mic mode tell me apart from the interviewer?

You read a short passage once on each device you use, which gives us a print of your voice. Every word that comes through the microphone is scored against it, and the ones that are yours are dropped before anything is answered. It is done per device, because a phone microphone and a laptop microphone do not sound the same.

Is it in the App Store?

The iOS and Android builds are in review and internal testing right now. You do not have to wait for them: open mobile.miprep.ai on the phone, sign in, and add it to your home screen — the app and the site are the same thing.

What happens to the audio?

It goes to our server, to speech recognition, and to the model that writes the answer — nothing is recorded to disk unless you ask for a transcript, and retention is a setting on your account, down to keeping nothing. Your own words in mic mode are dropped at the gate and never reach the model at all.
